34000X earns a ticket to the 2024 VEX World Championship!

This past Saturday the Sandy Creek robotics team competed against the top 55 robotics teams from across New York State. Our Sandy Creek students earned the Design Award (their 5th of the season, having earned it at every competition they have attended)! The Design Award is presented to a team that demonstrates an organized and professional approach to the design process, project and time management, and team organization. The teams Engineering Notebook and Judges interview demonstrates the teams ability to produce a quality robot with minimal adult assistance. Congratulations to Skylar Clark, Hannah White, Simon Preston and Micah Burns as they head to Dallas Texas to compete at the VEX Robotics World Championships in April!

This past Sunday [Co.R.E.] had an amazing day competing at the RIT Over Under competition finishing second in qualifications and being selected by Team 14711B from Belfast as the number one seed. After a tough match they were unfortunately knocked out in the quarterfinals. The team earned their fourth design award of the season today. Great job [Co.R.E] and thank you to all the volunteers and teams that made this day possible!

[Co.R.E.] put xTed through his paces today at Bears Friday Night Fever ranking 11th in qualifications and then being selected by Sherburne-Earlvilles Absolute Aces (13460A) to be the 5th seed alliance going into quarterfinals, where they were unfortunately knocked out. The team earned another design award for their continued dedication to their engineering notebook, team interview, and overall robot design. Great job [Co.R.E.].

[Co.R.E] had a great day of competing at the West Genesee Wildcats Over Under Tournament, finishing 8th in qualifications, 4th in Robot Skills, and joining 53999P from Harpursville Junior-Senior High School as the 3rd seed alliance to take it all the way to finals where they were knocked out by the number 1 seed. [Co.R.E]'s X and Z teams compete at West Genesee Wildcats Spin Up Tournament

A great day of competing for [Co.R.E.]! The Z team (competing for the first time) placed 12th overall and went into finals as the 8th seed alliance for R16. The X team placed 6th overall and went into finals as the 4th seed, making it all the way to semi-finals and earning the Excellence Award! A huge thank you to the event coordinator and all the volunteers that made this event possible!

It was a rush at Bears Friday Night Fever as Co.R.E won 5 of their 6 qualifying matches and secured an extra win point through some clever coordination with their match partner OCS 8214C, ranking 1st after qualifiers. They paired with Lake George Warriors team 64040A for finals and were unfortunately knocked out by the Queensbury 8876A & C alliance in Quarter Finals. The team was able to score a combined skills score of 320 (260 driver and 60 autonomous) placing them 5th in Northern NY and 10th in the entire state and in the same round they secured the extra win point, their alliance was able to score a 202, the highest scoring match of the evening.

Hundreds of teams from six continents around the world, 49 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico will all converge on Louisville, KY from April 24-27 for the VEX World Robotics Competition, including our own team from Sandy Creek High School. Teams qualified to compete in the world showcase through state and regional competitions in this years event.

Sandy Creek’s Robotics Teams Perform Well in Area Competitions

This past weekend was a busy one for the Sandy Creek Robotics teams! First, the middle school teams attended their first competition at SUNY Oswego on Saturday. The novice teams made quite the showing placing 7th, 9th, and 16th out of 24 teams in skills. The J team was also awarded the Judges Award, which is presented to a team that deserves recognition but may not fit under other award categories. A special thank you to Hunter Aurelio, Hailey McNitt, and Sadie Lurcock for mentoring the middle school teams on Saturday.

On Saturday December 1, the [Co.R.E.] Robotics Teams competed at the Bear Country Turning Point tournament in Chittenango. After a long day of qualifying rounds versus 31 other teams, [Co.R.E.]'s R team (partnered with Mexico High School's T.O.R.Q. team coached by Galen Fellows) won tournament champions against [Co.R.E.]'s very own E and Y teams. The R team also brought home the Skills champion award for having earned the highest combined driver and programming score for the skills challenge. All three Sandy Creek teams received praise from the event volunteer staff for their professionalism and sportsmanship both on and off the competition field. Congratulations to all of the students that competed on Saturday. The [Co.R.E.] teams are coached by John DeGone.

Sandy Creek’s Co.R.E. team earns third straight trip to VEX Worlds

For the third time in as many years, the Sandy Creek Co.R.E. VEX Robotics team has won the Northern New York Championship to advance to the VEX World Competition in April. The team is coached by John DeGone, technology instructor in the district, who organized a small group of students into a robotics team three years ago.

Sandy Creek’s CORE team heads to VEX World Competition for 2nd straight year

For the second year in a row, the CoRE (Comet Robotics Engineers) Robotics team from Sandy Creek Middle/Senior High School will be headed to Louisville, KY to the VEX Robotics World Competition, where teams from all over the globe will come together in the prestigious competition. The team earned the honor by winning the Northern New York State Championship in the SRC Arena in February.

Team Advances to 2016 VEX World Championship

The A-Team from Sandy Creek along with their alliance, Freezing Code from Oswego, finished in first place at the Northern New York VEX Nothing But Net State Robotics Championship, advancing them to the 2016 VEX Worlds on April 20-23, in Louisville, KY. Members of the Sandy Creek A-Team include: Team Captain Andrew Olin; Programmer Oren McDougal; Scout T.J. Harding; Driver Logan Hatch; and Team Scribe/Record Keeper Zeke Durham. The team is coached by Sandy Creek Technology Teacher John DeGone.
