Comet Pride is Community-wide!Spirit Week
October 27th, 2016 by Savannah Brown
As the Sandy Creek's football team season has been coming to a slow, successful close, Sandy Creek held their annual spirit week to bring out school spirit for the homecoming football game hosted on October 7 against IHC. On October 3, it was the beginning of the extraordinary 2016 Spirit Week. The high school student council came up with creative days including Movie Character Monday, Twin Tuesday, Wayback Wednesday, Pajama/Toga Day, and naturally Blue & White Day. Students from grades 6-12 can participate in spirit week and it was a great outcome overall. Not only did students dress up, but students in grades 9-12 helped create their class wall that would be judged and who ever had the best wins. Freshman wall theme was Looney Tunes, Sophomores wall theme was Angry Birds, Juniors wall theme was the Nightmare Before Christmas, and Seniors wall theme was Monsters Inc. As the eventful week continued and it was finally homecoming day and there was two pep-rallies for both middle school and high school. For the middle school pep-rally there was a yelling contest, jumping contest, performance by the modified cheer team as well as finding out who had the most spirit for each grade. In eighth grade, for king and queen, it was Zac Paternoster and Maddie Palmer. In seventh grade there ended up being two princes and one princess they include Matt Trudell, Wyatt Hilton, and Madison Benedict. Lastly, for sixth grade the dutch and duke of the grade was Lillian K and Tate Lalier. Then there was the high school pep rally where they figured out who won the wall which was the Junior class. They also had the performance by the varsity competitive cheer team, yelling contest, and the tug-a-war against all grades. Lastly was the announcements for the who won king, queen, prince, and princess. The spirit king was junior, Chris Blount and the queen was junior, Savannah Brown. Then the prince was senior, Jesse Cornell and princess was senior, Lindsey Goodnough. After the pep-rallies were complete it was finally the pie in the face event for the senior fall athletes. All homecoming week senior boys and girls go around during A and B lunch to compete to collect money from other students for who they want to see pied in the face more. Whoever raises the most money gets to pie their partner in the face. This event is always great fun to watch and raises a lot of money for Sandy Creek Booster Club. After, was the powderpuff football game for girls in junior and senior class and in the end juniors came out with a win. Finally, it was time for the homecoming game where the comets came out with a win. Spirit Week 2016 was a complete success for the Creekers!
