Sandy Creek Central School District
I wanted to take a moment and say thank you to all our families for your continued support of Sandy Creek Elementary. It takes a whole community to raise our children and that is exactly what happens here in the Sandy Creek School District. We greatly appreciate your efforts at home, whether it be reading a book, helping with math, discussing current events or just asking what they learned in school each day. Your time spent with them contributes to and supports the learning process. Below you will find a few updates and information concerning the elementary school.
Reminders and updates:
Elementary Parent Pick-Up and Dismissal Procedures for 2019-2020
In an effort to increase the safety and security of our students, we have continued with our parent pick-up and dismissal procedure. All students in grades K-5 who are being picked up from school will be held in room 1102 until they are signed out by their parent or guardian. No students K-5 will be dismissed out the doors until they are signed out.
For parent pick-up at dismissal, there is an entrance for parents to enter the school building located on the front corner of the PreK room. The door will be unlocked each afternoon at 3:05 and an orange cone is placed on the sidewalk to signal that the door is unlocked for parents to come in. Parents must come into the building and sign out their child(ren) from room 1102 on the corner (formerly the Reading Center). Miss Glenister, Mrs. Swarthout and other staff will have all students awaiting pick up in the room until they are signed out by their parent. Once you have signed out your child(ren) you will leave the building out the double doors leading to the parking lot. Additionally, parents cannot take their child from a bus in the loop, bus drivers are not allowed to release a student unless the office contacts them. Please know that for the safety and well being of our students, we will follow these procedures and we appreciate your support helping to keep all students safe.
Our office staff will have clipboards and each parent is asked to sign out their child on the clipboard before they are released to you. Please note that all classes dismiss around 3PM but you may have to wait a little while for your child to get to room 1102. We appreciate your patience as we safely dismiss the students.
Elementary Drop Off Procedures
Student drop off in the morning remains the same as it has always been. There will be a staff member at the door every morning at 7:45 to greet your child(ren) when you pull up to the curb and drop them off.
2 Hour Delays
On 2 hour delays, there is NO AM Pre-K and there is no breakfast. Lunches begin around 10:35 as they normally would.
Bus notes & phone calls about dismissal
Our office staff works hard each and every day to ensure that each student is dismissed where they are supposed to be going each day. To help us keep your children safe, please notify the elementary office of any changes in bus route by 10:00am. We also understand that emergencies happen and sometimes you may need to pick up your child unexpectedly. Please call the office at 315-387-3445 ext 1110 to give us notice so that we can make sure your child(ren) is ready to be picked up when you arrive.
If you are picking up your child from an afterschool activity, please park in the parking lot and walk to the front doors. We ask that you do not park in the bus loop so that our buses can safely pull up for our students at 4:15.
Front door entrance
Our new doors and entrance are almost complete, the new exterior doors will be installed over the holiday recess. Please use the silver button located on the brick wall to the right as you walk up and that will call into the office. They will be able to speak to you back and forth and let you into the foyer between the two sets of doors. Once inside, please go to the office window on your left and have your ID ready for them to scan.
Thank you for your continued support of our efforts to ensure all students are safe here at Sandy Creek. If you have further questions regarding this new dismissal procedure, please feel free to call the elementary office at 315-387-3445 ext. 1110.
We hope that you will be able to join us in the HS gym on December 20th for the K-5 concert which begins promptly at 1:30pm.
Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
