Comet Pride is Community-wide!Fashion
March 5th, 2017 by Liz Hall
It goes without saying that 2016 was a huge year for advances in fashion and overall personal aesthetic. With hundreds of products released by gurus such as Jeffree Starr and companies as huge as Anastasia Beverly Hills, this year was most definitely a big one! Of course, it also had its fair share of setbacks. So here are the trends that we think made 2016 such a fabulous year, and the trends that, in all honesty, should die with it.
Top 5:
#5- The Sillisponge (Ins. Picture)
This remarkable little makeup sponge is made of silicone! Flexible and easy to clean, this miracle of a product absorbs practically none of your makeup, and blends to perfection. Honestly, it's no wonder the Sillisponge is blowing up the internet.
#4-High-waisted jeans
This is one trend that really earned a well deserves comeback. The jeans are form fitting, fashionable, AND comfortable. What more could you ask for?
#3- Burgundy EVERYTHING
This trend started at the beginning of fall, 2016, and the color is so elegant and universally flattering, we hope this color obsession continues well into spring.
#2- Glitter cut-crease
This dazzling eye-makeup took the internet by storm in late fall, and is still going strong. (ins. pic)
and finally...
#1-ABH brows!
Last year, Anastasia Beverly Hills broke through the market with their miracle brow gel. Not only is the formula waterproof, smudge proof, and super pigmented, it also comes in colors ranging from the blondest of blondes to the blackest of blacks. We hope...no, NEED to see this trend continue!
5 trends that need to stay in 2016:
#5- Mom Jeans
This trend of already died off once in the 80's, and for good reason, too. It is immensely hard to pull these jeans off to complete the grungy 90's aesthetic. We are definitely not saying that it's impossible, but sometimes, some trends are better left in the past.
#4- "Full Face with ____" videos
WHAT WERE PEOPLE EVEN THINKING?? Did you know glitter can literally cut your cornea? And all the wasted makeup wipes are making us cringe.
#3-Contouring everything with everything
We have no idea where this trend originated from, but please leave contoured toes and corn contour lines in 2016. We beg of you, it's unsanitary and no one's looking at your toes anyway.
#2- Bubble Eyeliner
Honestly, we're not sure why this was EVER an actual thing. There are plenty of makeup artists out there that do wonderfully artistic things with their makeup, but honestly bubble eyeliner doesn't even LOOK pleasing. Thankfully, this trend died out after only a month or so, but it was enough of a run to earn a high ranking on this list.
#1: Overy huge chokers
Thin chokers, they're cute & dainty. Medium sized chokers? An edgy fashion statement. But chokers that are more like an extremely tight scarf? Stay in 2016 please!
