The Sandy Creek Science Club has made efforts to help the environment this school year. One that everyone should be aware of by now is recycling. The club has placed large recycle bins throughout the school, including the lunchroom. The members then take extra measures to empty the bins and recycle them for change weekly.
Science Club has also done Clean The Creek, which was on Sunday, May 7th. Clean The Creek rans from 1pm to 3pm; during this event, students and teachers went on predetermined routes to pick up the trash and take care of the areas around Sandy Creek. This was a wonderful community service event because it is a group of students and staff helping out the community expecting nothing in return. These three hours are nothing but fun for the participants.
The club also has an outdoor adventures field trip coming up. The students will take a Monday off of school to go relax and exercise in the outdoors, an opportunity that is free to all Science Club members. I highly encourage anyone who isn't a member to join this club because it is full of opportunities that benefit the community and the club members.
