Comet Pride is Community-wide!JV Softball Team
May 22nd, 2017 by Jasmyn Williams
Seven games in, holding a record of six wins and only one loss, the Sandy Creek Junior Varsity softball team looks ahead at a promising season. For some, coaching just 10 girls in a game that fields 9, may seem rather challenging and leaves no room for error but this team
coached by Ms. Alex Hager, gets the job done! Although the team had a tough loss against South Lewis by just "ONE RUN", Coach Hager's goals for this season still remain true. When asked what her goals for the team this season were, Hager stated, "My goals for the season are
pretty simple. I want to teach the girls to love the game as much as I do, help them learn everything they can, and of course to win. As for personal player goals, I hope that each girl gains that confidence, knowledge and skill to help them become the dominant leaders that they are all capable of being. There is nothing better than a field full of positive leaders with one goal in mind". Keeping that in mind, each and every girl on the JV team has been hard at work since the start of the season to fulfill their own personal goals as well as their team goals. It is
apparent that each player has given their undivided attention and dedication to the Sandy Creek Junior Varsity program and Coach Hager could not be anymore proud. With that being said, each team has a personality, Hager describes her team's personality to a T when stating, "This year's teamn. How would I describe them? Young, silly, family, and a force to be reckoned with. They are a wonderful team. They exhibit great sportsmanship. They support each other, play with all they have, and oh how they can make me laugh. They remind me that between
pitches, runs and innings it is always okay to laugh about the 5 hole, tagging up, or a potato".
Despite what this team is challenged with, they rise to the occasion and come out on top and better than they were the day before!
On that note, a special good luck goes out to this years, young but dedicated JV Softball team on the rest of their season. I am confident you will succeed in any task thrown your way.
Remember to respect the game and to appreciate those who play beside you, without them, your success would not be possible. Welcome to the family
