Soccer

January 28th, 2018 by Giuseppe Di Mario

Soccer is a very beautiful and sophisticated sport. It doesn't simply consists in trying to get a ball inside the other team's net, it is a combination of agility, concentration, technique and strength that helps creating the perfect team play, and that is what our boys at Sandy Creek are constantly trying to achieve.
As of many champions that start playing at an early age, our Modified Boys Soccer Team seems to have done a very good season. If you have been to any of their matches, you sure saw what an amazing defense they had managed to keep throughout most of their games. On this matter the coach, Mister Klopotowski, commented: "Our team is doing very well this season, we have managed to win quite some games. Even though we are young I feel like we have an excellent team, ready to cooperate at anytime." They're very young indeed. The team is composed of Tate Lallier, Hunter Redden, Noah Reff, Cody Walke, Kenny Burd, Keegan Corbett-Bean, Aidan Darrow, Noah Gonzales, Sawyer Gorman, Zac Masuicca, Jacob Sampson, from 7th grade, Gabe Balcom, Hunter Aurelio, Seth Pearsall, Rosen Glazier, from 8th grade, and Jason Lance and Sean Tritten, from 9th grade.
On the other hand, the Varsity Boys Soccer Team, composed of T.J. Harding, Sullivan Worns, Josh Balcom, Colton Steele, from 12th grade, Dakota Corbett-Bean, Dylan Occhino, Christopher Olson, Dylan Brown, Gavin Brown, Gavin Babcock, from 10th grade, TJ Reff, Aldyn Landas, Matthew Caufield, Ryan Robbins, Micah Charsky, Justin Charsky, from 9th grade, and Matthew Olson, from 8th grade, had a very rough start with this season. However there's no denying in saying that "the guys all put in their best effort and never quit no matter what the score was" as their coach, Mr. Olson, has stated. This was also confirmed by the team's defender TJ. Harding: "We didn't have a very great season, but we are always trying to give our best until the very end." The coach also told us that the team might have really benefited if they only have had more off season work. Fortunately "for next season many of the supportive parents have already started getting the players involved in off season workouts and games at local sports facilities and we will make our way back onto the field next year".
