Comet Pride is Community-wide!OCAY
January 28th, 2018 by Eric Kennedy
Not very many people know about the OCAY competition, (Oswego county academic youth). The OCAY competition is an event that the schools of oswego county participate in, with the exception of Phoenix. The OCAY has been around since 1997 and every year the competition is on a different topic, and has different tasks with varying competitors.
The advisor for Sandy Creek is Mrs. White, the 10th grade social studies teacher, she has been doing it for eleven years. The selection process for participants occurs before competitions and the topic of the competition is kept a secret from the students until they arrive at the venue.
The team is comprised of ten students that the advisor thinks will excel in the pre-determined topic.
The advisor also reaches out to staff and faculty they think will excel at the topic. it is not allowed if the advisor reveals the topic before they reach the venue. So far there has been two events this year, every year there are a total of four events. Maybe you could be picked for this event.
