JV Volleyball

May 4th, 2022 by Madison Lamica

Our JV volleyball team also had a good season this year. The jv girls are coached by Margo Dillon. The girls started off pretty nervous, there were a lot of new girls on the team. As their season went on you could see how much confidence they gained and how their skills improved. Every year jv and varsity practice together and work to build our skills and bonds. Sometimes you would be paired with a jv player for drills and it was great to be able to work together like that. I asked player Phoenicia Hathway a couple of questions. I asked Phoenicia to tell me about her season, what it was like playing during covid, what it was like moving up onto varsity this year, why you play volleyball and why someone else should play. Phoenicia replied This season was very very fun. Last year's season was difficult but we still made it. Last year it was more of a learning experience for me. While this year on jv it was more fun because I knew what I was doing. Varsity was an amazing experience mostly because of the environment. The team, the wins, and the dedication. I was scared and upset to play this season after losing Natalie. But we honored her and played every game for her. We had so much fun during practice and during games. Bus rides were even fun. Phoenicia is an 8th grader and a three sport athlete. She started off on jv this year and moved up to varsity near the end of the season. Phoenicia has great skills and potential, a great all around player. I grew fond of the younglings and loved watching them develop and grow. I hope that they continue to play this amazing sport and Ill be able to watch them reach the Varsity level.
