JV Girls Basketball

May 4th, 2022 by Madison Lamica

The JV girls had a good season and are coached by Michelle Shirley and Jimmy Dowlern. I spoke with two of the girls on the team, Ceanna Reff and Haidyn Soluri. I asked the girls how their season went and if they faced any challenges. Ceanna replied This basketball season was definitely one to remember. One weakness we had to overcome when it came to this season was definitely having to wear masks. Masks honestly made it difficult to practice drills and to play in games especially when we only had nine players. Haidyn replied Covid itself took on a large role in the season. Almost every week someone on the team either possessed covid or was quarantined from someone else having it. This also made it difficult to practice and learn new plays when not everyone on the team was there. Although there were many downfalls to this season, we certainly have gotten much closer with each other and our coaches. Ceanna stated We have learned a lot about each other and about the game of basketball. Overall, this season was absolutely one to remember even with so many cons.
Haidyn then stated This season only made us stronger and gave us more endurance and perseverance in the long run. Ceanna and Haidyn are in 8th grade and love the game of basketball. Both girls are three sport athletes playing the sports soccer, basketball and softball. Covid obviously had an impact on the girls season but they pushed through and ended up having a good season overall.
