Cheer

May 12th, 2023 by Abigail Jones

We had an interesting Cheer season this year. During Winter Cheer 2023 we had 11 Varsity Athletes. We had our Senior, Jeremy Jutras, our Juniors, Adriana Brightwell, Lillian (Lilly) Ramus, and Olivia Manchester, Freshmen, Lola Tessier, Madilyn (Maddie) Norton, Abbygail (Abby) Peter, Leia Wall, Brynn Dreibellis, and Sophia Orton, and the 8th grader Abigail (Abbey) Jones. This season we ended up getting new uniforms! We went to 7 competitions, including Sectionals and States. And it was all thanks to our wonderful Coaches Rachel Jerome and Alicia Hall that we were able to get that far. During the season we won 1st place for Fultons Love to Cheer and Frontier League Champions, 2nd for Chittenangos Snowman Showdown and Section III, and third for West Genesees Sweetheart Classic. During the Frontier League competition we won the Team Sportsmanship Award. Also the Frontier League Allstars are Jeremy Jutras, Adriana Brightwell, and Lilly Ramus. Jeremy also got Section 3 Allstar and NYS Sportsmanship Award. The season was good, but it would have been better if team members would show up to practice. One of our basses had a shoulder injury and could not compete. Also someone ended up getting a concussion and had to sit out for a while. So we were short some people for a while which made it hard to practice. Overall we had a great season and had a lot of fun.

In the JV / Modified team we had Maddison Burton, Rowan McCarthy, Kaylie Parker, Stephanie Dobbs, Ryder Forss (All 8th Grade). Sadly they were unable to place officially for they were the only modified team at the competitions they went to but they still placed 1st in our minds for the two competitions they went to. Their coaches Rachel Jerome and Alicia Hall coached them through this season. They grew as a team as they practiced more.
