Winter Hunting and Fishing

For all you hunters and fishermen of the Sandy Creek School District, this winter has been warmer than the last, making the ice thinner than last year. Sandy Pond is frozen over enough to walk out on and ice fish a little way from shore, but still there is not enough ice to drive out a vehicle, besides maybe a 4-wheeler or a snowmobile. Anyway, this is the hunting season for cottontail rabbits, bobcats, coyotes, and foxes. Quail and Pheasants are also out for the warm weather. The best time for hunting grey squirrels is near the end of winter, when the weather starts to get warmer. As for red squirrels, the best time to hunt them is right now in the mid-winter or near the end of winter. The steelhead are just about all gone, and now there's only a couple fisherman left, testing their fly rods before the water freezes over completely, if it ever does. Be careful out there on the ice, and don't try to drive out on to the lake yet!
