Sandy Creek Central School District
Comet Pride is Community-wide!Publications

Most people in the Sandy Creek district read the Peek at the Creek when it gets published. However, most people do not know how much work goes in to writing these articles. In order to get the information, students have to chase down faculty, have an interview, and use their creativity to find an interesting way of putting it on the paper. On top of that, the students in the Publications course also are assigned a part of the yearbook in which they have to obtain photos (that can get tricky), and lists of names to go with the picture (also tricky). However, the Publications course is one of the few courses that will allow students to have the independence and responsibility that most crave. This course although testing is highly recommended for those who want to learn about the trials of being a reporter, deadlines, and time management. It is a good preparation for college and career readiness. Every Friday, someone in publications brings in food for the group, and the group talks about upcoming deadlines as well as other important subjects like, who has next week's "Food Friday" as it has become known. Because of graduation, the Publications staff is losing some very talented staff. Spots are opening for next year. Do you have what it takes?
