For her outstanding dedication to the safety of children and citizens of Oswego County, Sandy Creek’s Transportation Supervisor, Robin Cashel, was named a Traffic Safety Champion in a ceremony held last week. The award was presented by the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board for her exemplary character and devotion to traffic safety.

In nominating Cashel, Sandy Creek Business Administrator Shelley Fitzpatrick spoke of her efforts to ensure the safety of not only students at Sandy Creek, but through training bus drivers and bus aides, she also works with neighboring school districts to educate staff on potential risks and hazards they can face on a day to day basis. In addition, she shared how Cashel and her department present several education opportunities for children of all ages regarding bus safety and use unique ways to engage the students in the process. “Robin does not do this for the notoriety or even due to her job title,” said Fitzpatrick, “Robin does this because she truly cares about the community’s safety as a whole.”

Cashel was presented with the award during a breakfast ceremony where she was recognized for her outstanding commitment to traffic safety.
