Meet the SCCS Class of 2025 Valedictorian and Salutatorians

Through years of hard work, dedication, and academic excellence, Sophie Harris, Breanne Smith, and Madison Darling have earned the top distinctions as Valedictorian and Salutatorians of the Sandy Creek Central School Class of 2025.

To celebrate their achievements and share their unique journeys, we sat down with each of them for a series of interview questions. Learn more about their experiences at SCCS, the memories they cherish and the goals they're pursuing beyond graduation.

Sophie Harris: Valedictorian

What is your favorite subject in school?
Art

What do you love most about SCCS?
The community that comes with being a small school.

What extra-curricular activities are you involved in?
Track and field, cross country, drama club, Whiz Quiz, OCAY League, robotics, language club, history club, band and marching band.

Who was the most influential person during your time here?
Ms. Morse

What are your plans for college and after college?
I plan to attend Alfred University to study art and design and then become an art teacher.

What is a fun fact about yourself?
I lived in Canada from 1st grade through half of 3rd grade.

Do you have any words of wisdom to leave for the underclassmen?
You only have so much time, so try the new sport or club even if youre nervous. Its better to have tried and not like it than to do nothing and regret it after.


Breanne Smith: Salutatorian

What is your favorite subject in school?
Physics

What do you love most about SCCS?
The connections Ive made with classmates and teachers.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in?
Basketball, soccer, SADD, Morgans Message and NHS.

Who was the most influential person during your time here?
Mr. Stoker because hes been there for me academically, athletically and overall.

What are your plans for college and after college?
Attend Keuka University to study physical therapy and play basketball.

What is a fun fact about yourself?
I play guitar, banjo, bass and ukulele.

Do you have any words of wisdom to leave for the underclassmen?
If you need help, ask for it. Your teachers are here to help you.

Madison Darling: Salutatorian

What is your favorite subject in school?
Science

What do you love most about SCCS?
The environment at SCCS is comfortable and allows people to grow.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in?
Varsity Softball, Varsity Basketball, Varsity Soccer, National Honor Society, SADD, Class Officer-Treasurer, Student Council and History Club

Who was the most influential person during your time here?
Mr. Stoker has been the most influential teacher and coach I have.

What are your plans for college and after college?
Attend Nazareth University, earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy to work in the Physical Therapy Field

What is a fun fact about yourself?
I play two instruments - The french horn and the trumpet.

Do you have any words of wisdom to leave for the
underclassmen?
Enjoy every moment and never take anything for granted.
