Can you imagine how differently we would envision our environment if we could speak with trees and the animals of the forest? To celebrate Earth Day at Sandy Creek Elementary School a group of middle and high school students in the district visited the elementary school and presented a program based on the Wisdom Thinkers Network book “Stories to Light Our Way,” featuring the story about “The Little Girl Who Spoke With Trees.” The story shared the importance of stewardship and caring for our environment and natural resources.
Founder and chairman of the Wisdom Thinkers Network, Ralph Singh was also on hand to speak to the students about the importance of the story’s message and how the Wisdom Thinkers group helps students build strong character and emphasized the importance of being kind and respectful of one another and our environment.
“Stories to Light Our Way” is a character education program through the Wisdom Thinkers Network to teach children using traditional stories to equip them with the tools needed to make good choices and foster compassion to strengthen social understanding in their school and community.
The Wisdom Thinkers group at Sandy Creek Middle and Senior High School is coordinated by Dori Hathway. Hathway worked in conjunction with Wisdom Thinker elementary coordinator, Jackie Hobbs to present the morning program production.
