In an incredible night of musical entertainment, the Sandy Creek Central School Choral Department presented its Spring Concert on May 25th. The evening began with delightful songs performed by the Middle School Chorus, opening with the traditional “Cantate Canon,” before performing the pop song “True Colors,” which featured soloists Emily Ward and Aden Goodnough. The Middle School group finished with a lively Old American song, “Ching A Ring Chaw.”

The Sandy Creek Show Choir, just back from a first place finish at the Darien Lake Music Competition, performed three outstanding numbers: “Shut Up and Dance,” “Hallelujah,” featuring soloists Charlie Shaw and Abby Irwin; and finally “Dance With Me Tonight” with solo by Nicky Radford.

Mixed Chorus began with an opening a cappella portion with solo harmonies by Mikayla Russell, Hannah Sawchuck and J.J. Hays in “Bright Morning Stars.” The chorus then performed a series of medleys from “The Phantom of the Opera” with solos by Nicky Radford and Mariah Hess. The finale of the evening was a song, “Swingin’ With the Saints” that featured a Dixieland Jazz sound and guest artists: Tom Machuga on trumpet; Valerie Marshall also on trumpet; Frank Bickel on Tuba and Tom Artini on drums. Accompaniment on piano for the evening was by Jon Pelletier. The choruses were all under the direction of Sandy Kinney.
