For the second year in a row, Sandy Creek Elementary's gymnasium was transformed into a bike rodeo, offering students a fun and educational experience focused on bike skills and safety.

The Oswego County Traffic Safety Board (OCTSB) facilitated the event, providing all necessary equipment, including helmets, bikes, and scooters. Students were given the option to bring their equipment from home as well.

Children were taught essential safety measures such as looking both ways and hand signaling before practicing their skills on the course. Teachers participated by assisting the riders and acting as pedestrians to enhance awareness of surroundings.

Katelynn Kron, Traffic Safety Education Coordinator for OCTSB, emphasized the program's value and expressed a desire for greater awareness and participation. We hold bike rodeos at schools, churches, clubs, and city events to teach kids bike control and safety, she said. We aim to expand this event across the county and are always looking for more people to use our services to keep children safe on the roads.
