What better way to improve the climate in a building than to provide students there with a safe and enjoyable piece of playground equipment? That’s what members of the climate committee at Sandy Creek Elementary School thought when trying to decide what to do with a surplus of funds left over from recent fundraising. Committee members scoured through catalogs of playground equipment before deciding on the “merry-go-round all.”

“It was more expensive,” said Maddox Palmer, Climate Committee Student President, of the new equipment, “but this one was the safest.”

Climate Committee adviser Judy Allen praised the students for their work in selecting the piece and the effort they put into the decision, emphasizing safety as a top priority as well as something that can be used by all ages.

Members of the Climate Committee include: Maddox Palmer- President; Alex Caufield-VP; Mason Ennist-Secretary; Lily Liszewski- Treasurer; Brayden Metott; Aden Bartlett; John Darou; Mikayla Glazier; Madison Darling; Olivia Euler; Ben Ericson; Trever McDougal; Hannah White; Abby Chen; Cody Walke; Elizabeth Glazier; Kierra Davis; and Nathan Lucas.

The new piece has been extremely popular among the students visiting the playground since the recent installation.
