Kindergarten students in the Sandy Creek Central School District came together the week before opening day of school for an opportunity to find their classrooms, meet their classmates, teachers and principal, and on top of all that, they could enjoy a delicious sundae with all of the fixings. And while smiles were optional, they were in abundance that evening as the students explored their classrooms, took time to play on the playground and meet their friends.

The tradition of Sundaes with Smiles has been going on in the district for as many years as the teachers could remember and the night was just as successful as ever. The event, scheduled to help familiarize and ease the transition for students into the full day kindergarten program, served to alleviate the concerns that parents had with their children entering all day school for the first time too.
