The Sandy Creek High School Awards ceremony included end-of-the-year athletic awards and recognitions including the tri-athlete awards which were presented to senior students who participated in three or more different varsity sports in their high school career. Recipients included: Maggie Vazquez, Allison Burrows, Cassidy Carnes, Carley Stoker, Machela Sullivan, Savannah Brown, Madison Yerdon, T.J. Harding, Joe Benedict and Tyler Trump.
A special three-sport plaque was presented to Joe Benedict who participated in three sports each year for all four years of his high school career. Benedict played football, wrestling and baseball for all four years.
The Larry Miller Wrestling award was presented to Marshall Coe, captain of the wrestling team and for his dedication and leadership qualities.
Joe Benedict received the Art Jones Award in recognition of his contributions to the wrestling team.
The Nate Woolson Memorial Award, chosen by the wrestling staff, honors a student for their leadership, courage, compassion and sportsmanship. This year the award was presented to Caleb Miller.
The Terry Miller Memorial Award, given to a Sandy Creek Wrestler who most exhibits the traits of leadership, work ethic, school or community service, and excellence and dedication to the sport was presented to Levi Darling.
The National Football Foundation College Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete award was presented to Chris Blount.
The Physical Education Award presented to the male and female senior athletes who earned the most participation points was given to Allison Burrows and Joe Benedict.
The Babe Ruth Sportsmanship Award, which is chosen by the entire staff at the school as well as members of the senior class was earned by Carley Stoker and Joe Benedict.
Section III Scholar Athlete, a combination of grade point average and athletic participation points went to Cassidy Carnes and Chris Blount.
Scholar athlete teams were recognized with Fall sports: Girls' Soccer, Boys' Soccer, Girls' Cross Country, Boys' Cross Country and Cheerleading. Winter sports: Volleyball and Cheerleading; and Spring sports: Softball and Girls' Track. Teams needed 75 percent of their roster to earn a 90 percent or high grade point average to qualify for the scholar athlete team designation.
Frontier League Sportsmanship Awards were also presented to the following teams: Fall - Girls' Soccer, Boys' Soccer, Girls' Cross Country, Boys' Cross Country and Cheerleading; Winter - Boys' Basketball and Girls Basketball.
Section III Champions included: Individual - Joe Benedict, who earned Section III Class B Champion; Section III Div. III Champ; New York State Champion and went 38-0 at 220 lbs.
Section III Team Champions included: Fall - Cheerleading, Frontier League Champs, Section III Champs; Winter - Wrestling - Frontier League Class B Champs; Cheerleading - Frontier League Champs, Section III Champs; Volleyball - Frontier League Champs, Frontier League Playoff Champs and the first ever Section III Champs. Spring: Softball - Frontier League Champs, Section III Champs, NYS Regional Champs and went to the NY State Final Four.
In addition, awards were presented to those athletes who earned Section III Championship in three sports during the same year. Madison Yerdon earned this outstanding honor for the second year in a row and joining her this year for this honor was Lainie Hathway, Rosie Walter, Olivia Pappa and Abby LaRue.
