Sandy Creek Elementary kindergartners recently took a field trip to Ontario Orchards in Oswego, where they explored the apple orchard and learned about the harvest process.

Students walked through rows of apple trees, picking apples by hand and observing signs of the changing season. As part of the visit, they learned how apples are picked, washed and prepared for sale. Orchard staff explained each step of the process, giving students a behind-the-scenes look at how apples move from the tree to the market.

The trip supported classroom lessons on seasons, plants and local agriculture, offering a hands-on learning experience outside the classroom. Teachers and volunteers guided students through the orchard, helping them engage with each activity and observe the natural environment.
