Sandy Creek students earned the honor of second place during the last Oswego County Academic Youth League (OCAY) competition of the year, which centered on the theme of leaving a legacy and living a memorable life.

The event involved tasks such as creating and illustrating a children’s book, performing a silent drama and giving an inspirational speech. True teamwork was demonstrated as the students delegated the work based on their individual skill sets to divide and conquer.

In the inspirational speech that he read, Dylan Brant said, “A legacy is defined by the person who makes it.”

The Sandy Creek Central School District OCAY League members for this competition were: Nicky Radford, Adaiah Bauer, Brigid McClusky, Rosie Morgan, Tyler Brown, Dylan Bryant, Brody Cooley, Rianon MacDuffie-Dingman and Zeke Durham.

After the medals were distributed, the OCAY League teams took turns selecting through an assortment of items that will be placed in a time capsule box for next year’s teams to use.
