In a heartwarming display of community spirit, over one hundred Sandy Creek Central School (SCCS) students and their families received thoughtfully donated Christmas gifts this past holiday season.

School social worker Buffy Peterson organized the gift drive, which aimed to bring joy and support to families facing extra challenges around the holidays. According to Peterson, We had more families than usual sign up for assistance this year, so we enlisted the help of the community to make sure that every person was provided for.

SCCS collaborated with the Sandy Pond Sportsmans Association to sponsor 56 kids through the Angel Tree Program, Healthway donated Tops gas and grocery cards to a family and Connextcare sponsored five families with gifts and dinner baskets.

The outpouring of support continued with the help of Oswego First United Methodist Church, Arise, the SCCS Board of Education, students, staff and community members who all volunteered their time and resources.

Once Petersons office was filled with brand new toys, books, clothing, stuffed animals, games, bikes and more, it transformed into a bustling hub of organizing, gift wrapping and Christmas magic.

The success of this holiday gift drive is a testament to the compassion and generosity embedded into the SCCS community.
