The Senior Trip

The Senior Trip

After a long and arduous journey and an early morning below their belts, the seniors arrived at their first destination, a gas station. This first stop was the first time they had stood and walked around in about six hours. They went about buying needless amounts of snacks and drinks, as teenagers often do. After this they shuffled back onto the bus and settled in to keep pushing through the night and maybe sleep through the long road hours.
But the long and uncertain road had finally brought them to their first true destination, Ziplining. A beautiful little attraction where people would be harnessed up and brought up a mountain in a military style truck to fly through the trees at speeds upwards of 30 mph. With the variety of heights and speeds that can be experienced this place is destined to be someone's favorite place, but all things must come to an end and within about an hour of everyone ascending the mountain they were back at the bottom and ready to shovel off and get to the next destination.
With the seniors properly tired and ready to settle down for a bit they made their way to the hotel, which was a surprising debacle to say the least. But once everything was settled in, the seniors were able to take a moment to get familiar with the facilities of the hotel and sort out any undecided sleeping arrangements. Once everyones stuff was put in their rooms the next step was to get back on the bus and head out for dinner. But this would be no ordinary meal, they would be going to a dinner theater to watch a show about the Hatfields and the McCoys, a legendary rivalry that killed a total of 60 people in its 48 years of bloodshed, and all that over a single pig. The food was spectacular, featuring heavily southern cuisine of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, pulled pork, and a delectable soup and to top it all off some wonderful chocolate or banana pudding. A fitting end to a wonderful night of never ending food and fun.
After the first true sleep they had had in about 24 hours the seniors prepared for the day ahead at Dollywood, an amusement park with tons of history and information about the country singer Dolly Parton, as well as some pretty spectacular roller coasters. There were tons of cool little joints to grab food or merchandise, especially a gorgeous 50s style silver and red, burger and fries restaurant, which gives a perfect view at one of the star rides in the park, Lightning Rod which holds the record as the world's fastest wooden coaster with a top speed of 73 mph. Although there is no shortage of spectacular rides at Dollywood, nothing can truly beat Lightning Rods true splendor. Once all the high octane fun at Dollywood was finally over, the seniors got a chance to have some leisure fun around the hotel pool and generally just cooling off after the day of coasters.
Although they were saying goodbye to their hotel on the third day, that day still had much to offer. Next up was a trip to the Titanic museum, where all the seniors were assigned names and the stories of real people who were on the Titanic, and they were informed to pay attention throughout as they would find out about the triumphant or grizzly end to their given passenger. There were many one to one recreations of the architecture on the Titanic, such as the gold and wooden staircase as well as the flooring which was actually linoleum, due to the fact that at the time of the Titanic's creation linoleum flooring was nicknamed, The Rich Mans Floor. After many oohs and aws the seniors were off to their last attraction, the zoo. A modest little zoo with much to offer, the majority of the animals were rescues and just all around a sanctuary to any and all including some exotic reptiles, spiders, primates, emus, medium cats, and goats. People were provided with the chance to hold or pet many animals like chinchillas, lizards, and snakes to many peoples displeasure.
With that said and done, the trip was over and so began the long drudge back to whence they came. The trip was well worth the weight and the effort and is not one that these lucky few will never soon forget and will cherish forever.
