On March 2, students at Sandy Creek elementary School marked Dr. Seuss’ 113th birthday by dressing as their favorite character from one of his many children’s books. In addition to the birthday celebration, the students also participated each day during the week of February 27 to March 3, with a different theme each day to celebrate. Read Across America Week is a National Education Association holiday to celebrate the beloved author’s birthday and to promote the joy of reading to young and old alike. In addition to Cat In the Hat Thursday, the school celebrated Green Eggs and Ham Monday, Fox In Socks Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday and I Can Read With My Eyes Shut Friday.
